In India, dental myths are too common. More people are afraid of going to the dentist because they feel that all the procedures will be painful. Some even think that going to a dentist every two months for routine checkup is a complete waste of time.   • Myth - We should brush our teeth as many time as we can even if it’s 5-6 times a day. While we think that is a good idea, ideally brushing your teeth that many times a day will actually harm your enamel.
  • Myth - Sugar is the main culprit causing cavities. Cavities do not occur because of sugar particles in your mouth. It occurs because the bacteria in your mouth produces acids that harm your enamel. They can latch on to any kind of food that may be stuck between your teeth. 
  • Myth - If you have a bad tooth, just extract it. Calm down Rambo! It may seem like a good idea to remove the tooth that is damaged and causes pain but every time you do that, you actually set off a chain reaction in your mouth.
