Dentzz- Tooth Replacement Options: Dental Implants, Bridges, and Dentures

Today, there are multiple options for replacing damaged teeth. Although most patients prefer implants it is best to consult your dentist who will suggests a suitable treatment after examining your teeth. A detailed list of different tooth replacement options are listed below along with their pros and cons to help you take best decision.

What is a Dental Implant?

Our experts at Dentzz provide complete teeth examination to assess the amount of bone volume you have in the region of the missing tooth because a certain amount of bone is needed to support an implant. Bone regeneration techniques that have been used for ages can develop the health of your teeth to make you a candidate for implants.

Fixed Bridge
At Dentzz, we help patients replace teeth that have a fixed bridge if the area to be repaired is healthy and strong to support the artificial teeth. To make sure that we can fabricate a bridge, the teeth are prepared by cutting down their size, remove all the enamel, and thus make room for the prosthetic tooth restoration. It can be suspended between adjacent teeth to provide a functional and cosmetic replacement for the missing tooth.

One of the limitations of this form is the irreversible preparation of the adjacent (abutment) teeth for support. It exposes them to the risk of trauma to their nerves as well as raises the danger of requiring root canal treatment. Long-term, fixed bridges that serve as natural teeth have an average life expectancy of 10-12 years much before they require replacement.

Dentures
Removable partial or full dentures help replace a single missing tooth, or all of the teeth in your upper and lower jaw. It relies on the support of other teeth in the jaw (for partial dentures) and from mechanical support, the remaining ridge of gum and underlying bone. The full dentures also may be helped by suction between the denture and the underlying gum of your palate (roof of the mouth).

Bone Loss
When teeth are removed from the jaw, it is the bone that supports the teeth and tends to shrink over time. This process is called resorption. It is a consequence of the loss of stimulation to the bone from the forces placed on the teeth. The process involves the alveolar bone (the bone that supports the teeth) that begins almost as soon as the tooth is extracted and proceeds over time. The bone will lose both height and width from resorption.

Drifting Loss of a few teeth in a segment of your mouth can cause the drifting of neighbouring teeth, whereby the close teeth lean over into the vacant space where the teeth have been lost. Similarly, loss of a tooth can lead to shifting of opposing teeth as they drift down into the open space (super-erupt).

Teeth tend to have a constant tendency to move both towards the front of our mouths as well as towards the opposite jaw. It can be stopped by something on their way, mostly the adjacent or opposing teeth. It allows us to proceed in a pathologic way. As teeth drift, they create discrepancies of the gum tissue that predispose adjacent teeth to periodontal disease progression right from the accumulation of food. It helps in cleaning these areas from the "piled-up" gum tissue. Drifting teeth can adversely affect the occlusion (bite), as well as cosmetics of your face and smile.

Plaque: What is it and How Do We Get Rid of it?- Dentzz

As you grow old, your teeth start to deteriorate and become weak. Oral hygiene plays a major role. To maintain healthy teeth and gums you need to make sure that you aren’t suffering from plaque and tartar. What is it and how can that be dealt with? Read on to find out what our experts at Dentzz have to say.

Dentzz Dental CareYou may have noticed a sticky and colorless film of bacteria forming on the teeth along the gum line. It contains bacterium that is the leading cause of cavities and gum disease. There are multiple reasons for developing plaque. It develops when foods containing carbohydrates such as milk, aerated drinks, and sugary items such as cakes or candy are habitually left on the teeth. Bacteria thrives on these foods producing acids that in return destroy tooth enamel, resulting in tooth decay. It can also grow on the tooth roots under the gum and cause breakdown of the bone that supports the tooth. Plaque that cannot be eliminated from around the gum line gives rise to inflammation and causes irritation of the gums around your teeth. One of the common symptoms is a yellow or brown deposit that is along the lower front teeth or at the gum line.

There are numerous ways in which you can get rid of plaque. They are as follows:
  • Floss- Take a string of floss and use it to remove the germs and food particles that are stuck in between the teeth. Make sure you place the floss gently rather than snapping it or else it could hurt your gums.
  • Brush your teeth- Brush twice a day and remember to use pea-size toothpaste that contains fluoride. It is what protects the tooth from decay. Use any brushing method that is comfortable according to you. Do not scrub hard back and forth. The ideal way to brush is in small circular motions, back and forth motion. After brushing make sure you have rinsed well.
  • Clean the tongue- One should remember that food residues those found in sweets particularly act like nutrients for the germs. This causes tooth decay and leads to gum disease. It is vital to eliminate residues stuck on the teeth and tongue. In this way, you can also get rid of plaque that is stuck in the teeth. If plaque is not removed, try brushing after every meal and rinse your mouth well with a mouthwash. This habit also helps keep bad breath away. You could also make use of a dental pick or a toothpick.
Use the above techniques to get rid of plaque and maintain a healthy oral hygiene.

Veneers- Dentzz Dental
Today, cosmetic dentistry works on improving many aspects of your smile. There are many issues that affect our teeth, health and, as a result, affect our smiles. Sometimes, it is the alignment of your teeth. They may not seem to be in the right shape, or they could be crooked. The teeth when discoloured, lacklustre, and yellow, begin to ruin your smile. With the right amount of dental care, we at Dentzz make sure to provide a flawless set of teeth. To provide our clients with a comfortable experience that ends with exceptional results, we begin the treatment with a cosmetic consultation. At this stage, the doctor will thoroughly analyse your smile and let you know about the various types of treatments that are appropriate for you. An exceptional oral health care plan is created and customized to meet your preferences.

The veneers are made of either composite or porcelain. The composite ones can be directly built in the mouth. They are made in the dental laboratory before it is bonded to the teeth. Porcelain veneers are fabricated indirectly. A point to be noted about porcelain veneers is that they do not directly work for everybody. It is necessary to undergo dental examinations before taking up and putting porcelain veneer. It can be used to assess the compatibility for this procedure.

On the contrary, porcelain veneers are preferred by most doctors. It is because, they have a natural effect, which gives off once they are incorporated into the teeth since it is translucent. Such veneers are highly resistant to stains, which is an uncommon characteristic for most. It has been seen that dental bonding materials are widely used. We at Dentzz provide such a capacity of porcelain veneers and make sure it is resistant to tobacco, tea or caffeine stains. Also, one must note that composite surfaces have less tendency of being chipped and are less expensive than the porcelain ones. Extensively, getting porcelain veneers is something that cannot be undone. Ultimately, the final choice to use any of them and give yourself the perfect set of teeth is in your hands.

India has been at the top of this pyramid and many foreign nationals come to India in search of affordable treatments with amazing facilities. Research and surveys indicate that treatment costs in India are one tenth of the total cost in America or Britain which is a major contributor for growing dental tourism in the country. The Indian healthcare industry is estimated to double in value to $6 billion by 2018. This can be seen with the major hike in the dental healthcare sector that Dentzz has experienced. Dentzz Dental Tip- Best and Worst Crunchy Foods for Your Teeth

While unhealthy practices like not brushing your teeth or not visiting the dentist regularly remain a major cause of dental problems, there is another reason that contributes to them — food. Lack of hygiene and improper eating habits coupled with random munching at any time of the day results in many dental problems. There are also certain food varieties that have proven to be harmful for your teeth if there is no proper cleaning process involved.

Here, Dentzz gives you some of the best and worst crunchy foods for your teeth:

The good guys:

Fruits like apples, pears etc are a very good source of vitamins. The crunch helps to get rid of plaque forming bacteria and keep the teeth clean. Try to consume the fruits on a whole instead of juice.

Vegetables like celery, carrots, cucumber etc have a high amount of beta-carotene, which helps in strong teeth by enhancing the level of vitamin and calcium the body, Also they stimulate saliva flow that acts like a natural defense against gum problems and cavities.

Green tea, although not a crunchy food, is a great source of polyphone and antioxidants and thus helps to kill plaque-forming bacteria.

It is important to drink loads of water as it helps in keeping your teeth and mouth clean and get rid of food particles stuck in your teeth.

The bad guys:
Hard sticky candy is considered the worst food for your teeth. As you consume them, the particles are left in your mouth for a long time, which means extended exposure to sugar and damaging acid.

Carbohydrates like pasta, white bread, potato chips are considered very dangerous as they create the ideal breeding ground for bacteria in the long run.

Soda and fizzy drinks promote prolonged exposure to sugar and related acids, which over a period of time, damage your teeth and gum cavities with bacteria attack.

Also, try to reduce the consumption of coffee and tea, as they are responsible for staining your teeth.

Although they do not directly affect your teeth by causing bacteria, but they do leave dirty stain marks. Applying pressure while brushing to get rid of these stains can cause damage to the enamel.
While it is not necessary to eliminate these foods from your diet altogether, you can maintain a proper dental care routine and manage to eat your favorite foods without any worry! You can also visit any of our Dentzz clinics across Mumbai or Delhi for a personal consultation. We will assess your dental hygiene and can suggest a custom dental care plan for you to ensure that your smile is always dazzling!
