Oral Bacterium Tied to Systemic Disease in Kids?

While all the samples were missing the presence of collagen binding proteins linking the Streptococcus mutans to systemic diseases, doctors said that these may be acquired over time as more and more bacteria continue to thrive due to poor dental hygiene. Also, it was more likely to occur in people with cavities and problems in gums. If kids did not have clean and healthy gums, they were more prone to produce large quantities of this bacteria and in turn harm their health.’
